Michael T. Crane
Pioneering institutional-grade strategies in life settlements and longevity-linked investments
Michael T. Crane brings more than 30 years of experience in the global capital markets, spanning specialty finance, securitization, derivatives, and insurance across both the New York and London markets. He has been a pioneer in the life settlements space since making the first institutional equity capital allocation to life settlements while at General Re Financial Products, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway.
As Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Sea Point Capital, Michael sets the firm's investment strategy and risk framework while leading capital formation and its institutional relationships.
Michael began his career at The First Boston Corporation and went on to hold senior roles at Barclays Capital, Smith Barney, and General Re Financial Products before founding Deutsche Bank AG's life settlements principal trading business, where he and his team traded more than $2 billion of longevity-linked transactions globally and arranged the first synthetic life settlement exposure mandates for a European corporate pension fund and an Australian superannuation fund.
He went on to serve as Chief Executive Officer of Coventry Capital Limited, leading the global distribution of longevity investment products. Most directly relevant to his work at Sea Point, Michael founded Lane Gate Advisors, LP, where he built and managed an open-end life settlement fund — applying the same hands-on origination, pricing, and portfolio-management discipline he now brings to Sea Point Capital.
A frequent speaker at industry conferences worldwide, Michael is a recognized voice on longevity markets and uncorrelated alternative investments.
